Second week: learning basics

For the second week I finished off the rest of the Adobe Creative Cloud tutorials that I started in the first week. I learnt a lot from them and I am looking forward to using all those skills in the work I am going to be doing in the coming weeks and months.

Avatars

My task for this week was to make some avatars (profile image) for the digital advantage team members. At first I was nervous as I have never really done anything like this before but I was also excited as it sounded really fun to do. Firstly I had to do some research to find out the best ways to do the avatars. I wanted to see what was already out there and see if I could find an approach I would like to adopt for my first Illustrator project.

Research

I mind maped different ways I could have made the avatars. I came up with lots of different ways and art styles. It was hard at first but I got the hang of it pretty fast thanks to all the tutorials I did earlier.

The way i made the avatars:

Take a photo and open it in illustrator

Get the image possined and scaled properly

Use the pen tool to get a rough shape of there head and hair

Use the direct select tool to shape the lines

Then add the colour (this was a bit tricky at first but after watching a tutorial i got it)

Japanese

I have also started to learn Japanese. I stated last week and finished level 1 this week i'm really enjoying it so for been learning some letters and the numbers 1 to 7, the way i'm learning all this is from a app called Duolingo Im finding it great as its laid out like a game and i'm a huge fan of gaming.
